Agrotourism Nicaragua

Have you ever wondered what's so special about agritourism?

Agrotourism offers tourists the opportunity to have direct contact with nature and to learn about the daily activities of a rural community. In other words, it allows them to fully experience the countryside, its people, its customs, its crops, its colors and flavors.

Agrotourism allows producers to share their way of life, their work, their knowledge, their history and their culture with visitors, aspects that modern travellers appreciate more and more.

Agrotourism creates unforgettable memories and experiences: growing and processing coffee, cocoa, corn, organic foods… milking a cow or collecting eggs from chickens; or enjoying other gifts of nature such as processing honey, caring for nurseries or the secrets of making a good curd; or feeling like an artisan for a day, while you make some ornaments that you then take with you to the living room at home.

Taking advantage of a stay and rest in a rural environment to share with the local community in a framework of mutual respect is a different experience.

Chontales is a department of marked and beautiful contrasts and a land celebrated by poets and singers: where “the rivers are made of milk and the stones are made of curd.” This phrase is a figurative allusion to its rich and centuries-old livestock tradition.

Its intricate geography runs between four climatic areas: the zigzagging 90 km coastal zone on Lake Cocibolca; the wide plains that form the horizon and where the old cattle ranches were established; the mighty Sierra de Amerrique; and the beginning of the vast Caribbean plateau.

The Chontaleño people are renowned for their hospitality, industriousness and humility. It was here where the mythical Chontaleño campisto, centaur for some, weaved his feats dealing with the bravest bulls in the inhospitable natural environment.

Chontales is a land of legends, gold and milk. Travel through its fields and enjoy the joy of its traditions with its people. Celebrate its culture and the richness of its history.
